After completing an undergraduate degree at Yeshiva University, Dr. Geldwert attended New York College of Podiatric Medicine, earning his DPM in 1973. He completed his podiatric surgical residency at Northlake Community Hospital in Northlake, Illinois.

Dr. Geldwert is certified by the following four organizations: American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and American Society of Podiatric Surgeons.

Dr. Geldwert has privileges at the following New York City medical institutions: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Mount Sinai Beth Israel hospital.

Dr. Geldwert participates in a variety of professional organizations. He contributes to several team sports, including the Women’s World Cup (podiatric consultant), the United States Olympic Marathon Trials (medical advisory committee), as well as the New York City Triathlon (medical director) and Westchester Toughman Triathlon (chief podiatrist).  He also serves at the Diabetes Treatment Center Montefiore Medical Center, New York State Supreme Court Malpractice Panel, and New York Medical College (chairman, surgery for diabetic feet). He also consults as a biomechanics advisor for the shoe wear company SOLS, creating 3D-printed custom orthotics
